Conception to Production
Drawing upon Modern Dance, Butoh, and Improvisation practices, we will develop material that can be woven into choreography. Themes arising from our work together will worked into a short performance at the end of the course.
Dance and Improvisation
This course coaxes inspiration, seeking to make it reliable and to keep it surprising. It offers the possibility of "training" one's movement instincts to respond relevantly and with spontaneity. Solo and group forms are covered.
Butoh and Ritual Dance
An intensive class that will use butoh dance as a means to deeply engage multi-sensorial, whole-body perception and churn rich terrain as the body negotiates internal and external environments.
